ID Card Printer
An ID card printer is a specialized device that produces durable plastic identification cards, usually from PVC. These printers are designed to print photos, text, barcodes, and security elements onto cards used for employee IDs, student cards, access badges, and membership cards.
They mainly use two technologies:
Direct-to-Card (DTC): Prints directly onto the card’s surface. It’s faster and more affordable but slightly lower in print quality.
Retransfer Printing: Prints the image on a film that is then fused onto the card, producing higher-quality, edge-to-edge prints and working well with smart cards or cards with embedded chips.
Many ID card printers offer options such as single- or dual-sided printing, color or monochrome printing, lamination for extra durability, and encoders that add magnetic stripes, RFID, or smart-card data for secure access control.
These printers are commonly used in workplaces, schools, hospitals, government agencies, clubs, and event venues where secure, personalized identification cards are needed.
